Spring cleaning: start with the closet
Clothing is the fastest, most satisfying spring-cleaning win there is. Here is the plan.
When the spring-cleaning urge hits, the closet is the perfect place to start: high impact, quick decisions, and an instant sense of space. Here is a simple seasonal plan to clear it out — and a way to make the donate pile vanish the same day.
Start with the seasonal swap
As you pull out warm-weather clothes and pack away winter layers, you are already handling every item you own. That is the moment to decide. Anything you reach past, never wore last season, or no longer like goes straight into a "let go" bag.
The fast spring checklist
- Coats and sweaters: if it did not get worn this past winter, it will not next winter either.
- Shoes and sandals: pull cracked soles and pairs you avoid — even worn ones can be recycled.
- Linens: spring is a great time to retire thin towels and worn sheets.
- Kids' closets: a season of growth means a season of outgrown clothes to clear.
Do not let it pile up in the garage
The classic spring-cleaning trap is moving clutter from the closet to the garage "to deal with later." Close the loop instead: book a free pickup, set the bags out, and they are gone. We take everything in any condition, so the whole pile leaves at once, and we do our best to keep it out of the landfill.
